Take the time to read the following article, surely you will benefit from the research that been conducted in order for it to be written.
There is no point in trying to play a poker game if you do not know the rules. Sure you could make the rules up as you go along but how much fun would that be for people trying to play the game with you. Poker is definitely one of those games about which you are going to need some information if you intend to play. Poker rules are pretty simple depending on the game. Four of the most commonly played poker games are: Texas Hold Em, Omaha, Omaha Hi-Lo and Five Card Stud. Let's cover the common game of Texas Hold Em and more specifically the hands that can make you a winner.
Before you can get into the more intricate poker rules and the betting and the terminology used, such as "the flop" or "the river," you must know what makes up a winning hand. This is the combination of cards that can win you the pot. First is a Straight Flush, which is five cards in numerical order that are entirely of the same suit. The highest combination of this flush is the Royal Flush, which is A-K-Q-J-T. This is the best hand possible, yet the odds of being dealt this hand are very low.
The next best hand is Four-of-a-Kind. This is four cards of any number. The best hand you can have in this situation is A-A-A-A-K. Obviously, you cannot get Four-of-a-Kind in the same suit. Following this card combination is the Full House. An example of this suit would be A-A-A-K-K. It is three cards of the same number followed by a pair of a different number.
Fourth on the list is the Flush. It is any combination of cards within the same suit. Fifth on the list is the Straight. It can be in any suit but the numbers must follow each other. An example would be 2-3-4-5-6 of any suit. The remaining winning hands go from Three-of-a-Kind, Two Pair, One Pair and No Pair. It really is pretty simple to understand once you have a deck of cards sitting in front of you. You can then see how the pairs and straights work.
Sure poker rules can be complicated, such as when dealing with terms such as "the flop" or the "the river" but if you know your basic card combinations, then the rest will become easier. That way you will know whether to bet the bank on a pair of deuces or simply fold. No use in pushing a dead hand if you know you are going to lose, unless you are a great bluffer.

Today's Tip On Poker
Back in 1961 there was an act that was passed called the Interstate Wire Act, or Federal Wire Act. Essentially, it declared that using a wire transmission to place a bet or to gamble was illegal. Many lawmakers have taken this and applied it to online gaming since these casino games are played over the internet. Now, you have to keep in mind that this was before the internet and online casinos were available. Many opponents to this bill argue that it was pertaining to placing bets over the telephone for sporting events. |
