World Poker Tour

Forget about spending endless hours searching the web for quality articles on the topic that best interests you. The following paper is an excellent proof of research and professional content.

Texas Hold Em is a favorite card game among poker players. But there is one tournament in which players compete with one another that stands apart from the rest. It is the World Poker Tour. There is nothing quite like it in the rest of the game. You know that if you have made it to this point that you are better than 75% of the rest of the poker players in the world. The best of the best show up for this game and you definitely want to know your way around a live hand if you are going to make it at this level.

The World Poker Tour all started in 2002 by Steve Lipscomb. The WPT was his brain child and was showcased as a way for the world's best to play head to head with each other in a tournament of Texas Hold 'Em. Bellagio Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada was the home to the championship game in 2003. Since that time the tournament has continued to grow in popularity. But how do you get into the WPT?

There are two ways to enter the WPT. The first is through winning another poker tournament and being invited to join. The second way is to buy in to the tournament. The amounts vary between $2500 to $25,000. If you have the money to play the card game, then you are in and are able to compete against some of the biggest names in the country and the world.

Thanks to modern technology, the public has a front row seat at the poker table. The viewing public can see the cards that each player is holding. It adds a bit of excitement as each person wonders how far that player will go based on their hand. It is an excellent learning opportunity for anyone trying to study the game and get some poker tips, as well as trying to learn how to read another player's tell tale signs of bluffing or when they are truly holding a great hand.

Unfortunately, the spin off show to the World Poker Tour, the Professional Poker Tour, was not able to enjoy the same success as the WPT. The WPT began to air on Game Show Network in March of 2008 but the Professional Poker Tour could not find a home of its own. This is the sixth season of the tour and it is looking to be an exciting one. So get yourself a great spot in front of the television or do your best to become involved in the actual tournament itself because it looks to be a great ride.

Today's Tip On Poker

Unfortunately, Bravo elected not to continue "Celebrity Poker Showdown." The show only lasted five seasons but eight tournaments were held during that time. Five seasons is not a bad showing, as some television shows barely last one. Most of the tournaments were held at the Palms Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada but the final tournament was moved to Harrah's in New Orleans, Louisiana. The last poker tournament was to benefit the Hurricane Katrina victims so at least something good came from the entire series.
